There are a few misconceptions about SEO-optimized content, and we need to pay attention to them.

The first one is that people think that SEO-optimized content is not user-friendly. No, that’s not right. An SEO-optimized content is a user-friendly content. Google ranks higher as content because it knows which content will give the best experience to its users. The content will have all the necessary information and be user-friendly.

The second misconception is that SEO-Optimized content doesn’t need to have great content.

No, that’s not right. If you want to be a successful writer or a blogger, keep in mind that content is a king. Your content makes you successful. Great content with proper optimization will make an engaging blog post with high chances of ranking higher on search engines.

In other words, you can’t say that if you don’t have great content, you will rank higher on google with just optimization. No, that’s not right; you need to have great content with full optimization. Then you can rank higher on google.

Now let’s get deep into how to write SEO-optimized content? Also, make sure to note these points as a checklist. So, you can check your blog post before publishing it.

Following are the steps you need to remember before writing on a topic.

The first step is to research the topic on which you will write deeply. Yes, no matter how difficult the topic is? It would help if you stayed calm before putting your fingers on the laptop. Don’t be hurry to write. Make sure to have a cup of coffee or tea while researching your topic. There are so many websites that can help you to research.

  •  Answer the public
  •  Google Scholar
  •  Top 10 results of google on that particular topic

After in-depth research, you need to outline what you will write. These outlines help you to stick to your topic throughout the writing. The outlines should be well-written for the SEO-optimized content and have incorporated primary and secondary keywords. How much time do you need to spend on in-depth-researching? Yes, it all depends upon the experience and the topic itself. If you are a beginner, you need to spend more time researching. On the other hand, if you are an expert level, you must spend quite enough time researching. This will help you to write well-optimized and well-structured content.

As keywords are an important part of blog post optimization. While researching, you need to pay much attention to them. Make a Helping or secondary keywords. These keywords will be the pillar of your content.

After outlining, you need to keep the writing tone in your mind. Is it informational or commercial? Are you providing information to your readers, or do you provide reviews of services or products through your blog post? It would help if you had a clear goal of how your blog post helps your readers.

2. Make a well-defined structure for your Blogpost.

After researching and making the outlines, the next step is to structure your Blogpost. You may have a question in your mind what is the structure. The structure means to split your Blogpost into different parts. Splitting long-form content into different parts makes your writing easy. It is also user-friendly. Long-form content with any subheading and splitting is boring. Subheadings always split well-written content, and users like to read only those parts they are interested in.

The structure should include

  • Heading
  • Introduction
  • Main body (Content and subheadings H2 and H3)
  • Conclusions
  • FAQs (if needed)

A well-optimized blog post is always written in a well-mannered way. The main Heading is the topic on which you are writing about.

The introduction parts should have a brief description of the topic. The word count varies from 100 to 300 words.

The main body will include all the content incorporated with helping keywords.

After the main body, the conclusion should include a summary of the whole Blogpost.

Then add some Frequently asked questions if needed at the last of the blog post.

3. Work On Title and Url

Yes, The 3rd step is crafting the title. The title must contain your focusing keyword or the main keyword. For example, in my case, the main keyword is an SEO-optimized blog post, then I will make a title like how to write an SEO-optimized blog post to rank higher on google? or How to write an SEO-optimized blogpost-my practical guide.

Creating an SEO-friendly title is an art, and only an artist can do that. Your title will be shown in the google results. So, if your title is unique and engaging, the user will click on it. According to the google survey, 80 percent of click-through rates depend upon the title.

If you clearly describe the purpose of what your Blogpost is about? Then the chances of clicks will be increased.

The title will be brief and should contain a word limit of 50 to 65.

It clearly describes the purpose of the Blogpost

Should contain the main or focusing keywords

It should be engaging and interesting, so users click on it

It should contain the power words

You can check out the power word bank on google and download the pdf for later use. Here are some examples of it.

If you are using the WordPress content management system, then try to use (-) to separate your words. The URL will be short and only contain the main keyword you want to rank.

For example, in my case, the URL will be www.aliyasheikh.com/write-SEO-optimized-blog-post/

instead of www.aliyasheikh.com/how-to-write-SEO-optimized-blog-post-to-rank-higher-on-google/

The URL will be short and only contain the main keyword separate by (-). Try to remove all unnecessary words from it. You can customize your URL according to your needs.

Url is also a factor to rank on google. But according to google surveys and studies, it is not a big factor to consider. But as we should have it in our checklist of SEO-optimized blog posts.

  4. Main Body or content of the article

Yes, it is time to start your writing.

Start your writing with the introduction.

The introduction is all about what the user will get in this article. The introduction should have the main or focusing keyword. Try to make it crystal clear for the user to know the purpose of the blog post. The first 3 to 5 seconds are very important. According to the Google survey, the user read the introduction for the 3 seconds and then decided to read more. It bounces back. If your introduction is engaging and interesting, the reader will continue reading. Otherwise, they will go back and click on another search result. This will increase the bounce result and create a bad impression in the eye of google.

Optimize your headings. The actual formate of the writing is H1>H2>H3…..H6.

The H1 Heading will use only one time in an entire blog post. The main content is under the H2 Heading, and if the main need to be further split into subheadings, then you can use H3 and H4. The Heading is used to split the content, and bold is used to emphasize the word or keyphrase. Many people do not clearly distinguish between bold content and Heading use.

The headings should have help keywords like secondary keywords that are the foundation of your entire content. The subheadings should be related to the main Heading or title.

What is the difference between the H1 and title? There is no such big difference; you must have your title in H1 Format. The title is actually in H1 Format.

Note: 1 H1 heading per blog post.

Yes, the main context will be in the form of paragraphs. The paragraph should be engaging and meaningful. It should be readable to every native or non-native English reader. The readability score should be more than 70 percent above. Don’t use difficult vocabulary that everyone can’t digest. You exceed 300 words in one paragraph. Also, take the benefits of the blog and use Italian, underline, background color, and text color formatting and designing to make your content engaging.

Internal and external links.

Yes, it is an important factor to add links, but where do they make sense. The internal link means to link your Blogpost with your existing Blogpost, And external links mean

Link your Blogpost with someone’s else blog post written about the same topic. Both kinds of links are very important from an SEO perspective. The internal link will help you to index your more pages. It helps the google crawler index more pages. You need to link your Blogpost with only those Blogpost that is highly relevant and belong to the same category. Not those who are irrelevant and don’t belong to the same category.

The external links are also very important. Try to link the website that is ranking higher on google on the same topic.

The links will help you

  • Indexing your more pages
  • Improve page session views
  • Drive more traffic
  • Reduce the bounce rate.

Note: Use the keywords in the anchor text. There is no penalty for it.

Use of Helping keywords

The use of the keywords where they make sense is very important. Do not the stuff of the keywords. What are the helping keywords? There are two main types of the keywordS

1. Primary keywords are also called main or focused keywords on which you must write a blog post. This keyword must be in H1 or the title of the blog post.

2. Secondary Keywords: These are the Helping keywords closely related to the primary ones. They need to be used in content to support the primary keyword.

The example of the primary keyword and secondary keywords is this

Primary keyword

Content length matters a lot. The length of your content should be the average of the top 10 results of the google search on your main keyword. But you need to provide all the necessary information. Try to optimize the content length. As I mentioned above, don’t use lengthy paragraphs. Keep your conversion short but deep. This is meaningless if you write a lengthy article and your visitor or reader doesn’t get anything positive from it.

According to the google survey, long-form content with meaningful context do best in search result. Users like to keep reading interesting information or engaging content and share it on their social media accounts.

Media Optimization

Sometimes, your images rank first on Google, then your content. You need to add the images with appropriate Alt text and Captions. Make sure to use the keywords in Alt text and the caption. It would be great if you could add a video of your content. This is because, nowadays, visual content is doing much better than written content. I have written a detailed blog on Blogging Vs. Vlogging, you can check it out for more details.

Edit Content after time

It is also important to edit the content from time to time to keep your content up to date. On the other hand, adding a new post is very important for the site’s health as the editing of the previous content and updating the previous content are also important. You need to keep editing after every 15 days of publishing the post.
